Bosch Group in Anderson, SC Expanding

industry_greeenville_scA $152 million expansion has been announced by the German based Bosch Group. Its Anderson location will add 130 new jobs.  Already approved by the South Carolina Coordinating Council for Economic Development, hiring has already begun and will continue in to the next year or two. The expansion is due to the demand of a variety of automotive electronic component products.
The automotive industry has been growing steadily in the upstate in addition to the Bocsh Group expansion.  BMW’s largest facility in the world located in Greenville SC is consistently expanding. Other automotive companies and education include Michelin, ZF’s manufacturing and Clemson’s iCAR automotive engineering program, four other technical colleges with automotive industry focus.  Many automotive industry related companies have been drawn to South Carolina’s upstate.

26th Annual Roper Mountain Holiday Lights

26th Annual Roper Mountain Holiday Lights. 2017 is the last year for this annual event!

Upon arrival you can park, walk through the tunnel of lights and enter Winter Wonderland.  There are a number of things happening within the Winter Wonderland area.  Santa is there with a photographer, Letters to Santa can be mailed in Santa’s mailbox, balloon artists and local school performances take place there as well.  You can also make S’mores and browse the gift shop.  After your Winter Wonderland visit a 1.5-mile drive of light displays will show you the way out.

Open November 23rd to December 30th from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.
$15 Admission for cars, minivans and SUVs is $15
$30 Multi car passes good for 3 visits can be purchased at the gate

24th Annual Anderson Christmas Lights

The annual Anderson Christmas Lights even runs from November 23rd through December 23rd. Drive through 2.4 miles of Christmas lights for only $10 per car. They do allow tour buses at $20 per bus. Portions of the front gate proceeds are donated to local charities. The festival features multiple attractions and nightly live entertainment!
Different nights feature different events. See below for specific details, dates and events.
·         Santa’s Lodge is fully decorated with gas logs
·         Frosty’s Café has treats for all including S’mores kits, hot coca and more
·         The Fire Pit proves a toasty spot to roast marshmallows or make S’mores
·         Broken Spoke Wagon Rides are $5 per person and take you through places inaccessible by car. The ride  is 1.2 miles long.
·         Sip N’ Shop is available on Tuesdays under the big white tent. Multiple vendors offer the latest Christmas items and gifts.
·         Princess Nights are Sundays only. Kids can meet their favorite princesses. A memorable meet and greet for sure!
·         Santa’s First Quality Village is an additional $5 admission
·         Veteran’s Stage has live entertainment nightly.
·         Heavy’s Snacks has candy apples, cotton candy funnel cake and for sale.

Greenville SC Film Festival This Weekend

Greenville SC Film Festival This Weekend is the 3rd annual Reedy Reels Film Festival in Greenville, SC. It runs from Friday Nov. 3rd 7pm to Sunday Nov. 5th about 8pm. Films, events and awards will be the focus of the festival. You can  purchase a session pass, day pass or event pass and see everything. During a session you will have a selection of films to watch.

After the sessions you will be able to talk with directors, actors and other film professionals. For the movie aficionado this Greenville event is going to be thrilling. Greenville Holiday Play Greer, SC Children's Theatre

Greer, SC Children's Theatre's Holiday Play ELF jr. the musical play is being performed by The Greer Children's Theatre starting Friday and Saturday Nov. 10th-11th, 17th-18th at 7pm. More performances will be held on Sunday Nov. 12th & 19th at 2pm. The exact location for the play will be at J Harley Bonds Career Center, 505 North Main Street, Greer, SC The cost for entry is $7 children 4 and under, $12 students and seniors, and $15 for Adults. If you have not seen any of the Greer Children's Theatre's productions you are missing a wonderful opportunity. The plays have been described as top of the line professional. Organizations like the Greer Children's Theatre are what make Greenville County a great place to live and one of the fastest growing "Cities" in the nation.

Judson Mill Condo Development | Downtown Greenville SC

Just outside of Downtown Greenville to the west and south of Bon Secours St. Francis Hospital on Highway 123 sits Judson Mill a 36.2 acre mill property with an 800,000 Square-Foot building. Swamp Rabbit Trail Events | Downtown Greenville SC

Cycling without Age 

FREE EVENT

Wednesday, October 25th starting at 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. 

Taking place at Furman University, Ole Kassow will be sharing his journey in creating the Cycling without Age movement.  Furman University is located right next to the Swamp Rabbit Trail and everyone is encouraged to use the trail to get there.  Regardless of the mode of transportation, everyone will find out more about how trishaws are being used to bring generations together and provide a ride to those who do not have the ability to do so themselves.  Show your support for the Greenville Chapter. Check out something new in our community.

2nd Annual Halloween Bat Count

Hosted by SC Dept. of Natural Resources & Sunrift

Friday, October 27th starting at 6:00 p.m. 

Hang out around the bon fire at the barn at Sunrift.  Enjoy some snacks and a raffle while you observe and count over 600 bats!  This event is next to the Swamp Rabbit Trail in Travelers Rest. Walk or bike to Sunrift and enjoy the evening! 

Spirit Bridge Closed

The bridge should reopen on Friday by 5:00 p.m.
